Here's the thing, I don't mind advertisements, as long as they're advertising products that are worth buying (immediately discounting informercials), or they advertise sales.
So the Sultana Bran advert with the stupid family that just start singing a catchy little jingle ripped off from a mowtown song makes me shiver in anti-consumeristic pain.
What is this ad saying? That if you buy Kelogg's Sultana Bran that you will become some mutation of the Von Trapp's and start singing tuneful melodies. Oh how the hils are alive with the sound of people rushing to the supermarkets to buy Sultana Bran. Yeah Right, the people that dreamed up that ad should be sacked immediately and thrown in jail for crimes against humanity.
Another singing family (and here's the link) was the Brady's. Oh how I miss the Brady Bunch, despite seeing the whole series 5 times because commercial television just can't produce new sitcoms anymore. According to Jim, anyone?
Apparently the Brady's had a singing tour thing happening, how about a reunion guys. Then they could hook up with the family from the Sultana Bran ad and make a megatour of it. Dreams are free.
Till next week
